The European Publishers Council, representing 27 CEOs of leading media companies from around Europe is delighted to support the “This is my Future” campaign, launched today by the European Association of Communications Agencies (EACA) to stimulate new business start-ups in Europe, particularly for young people.
EACA, which encourages close co-operation between agencies, advertisers and media in Europe, is calling on the skills and resources of its members and partners such as M&C Saatchi, DDB Europe, TBWA, JWT, Ogilvy, Grey Group EMEA, Y&R, Mindshare, Aegis, Innocean Worldwide, Publicis, Saatchi & Saatchi, Zenith Optimedia, Leo Burnett, McCann WorldGroup, Universal McCann, Initiative, Draft FCB, Media Consulta and the European Publishers Council, to provide advice, communications, mentoring, networking, funding advice, and inspiration to take ideas from initial conception to new business start-ups. The programme will help entrepreneurial young people to overcome the barriers of red tape, concerns over funding and a lack of confidence to strike out on their own.
Launched today and available from March 2013, the service will initially be set up in the UK, Germany, Poland, Italy and Spain with plans to expand across Europe.
The ambition of “This is my future” is to:
- inspire 500,000 new start-up businesses over the next three years
- deliver up to €33 million in additional revenue to the EU economy
- create nearly two million employed positions in the EU
- be supported by a budget of €2.2 million, funded by private enterprise, venture capital and contributions in kind

EPC Chairman Francisco Pinto Balsemão said: “New start-ups will help kick start an expansion of Europe’s struggling economy. To foster growth we must inspire entrepreneurial young people to take the risk to start their own companies, taking their ideas through to fruition with practical advice. The media and creative industries are by their very nature entrepreneurial and often start as one or two-man bands. I am confident that Europe’s economy can thrive by putting creative young people at the heart of our future”.
